From 10th February to 4th June 2023, Delft will host a citywide programme around the life of Johannes Vermeer. During this period, there will be various Vermeer-related activities in the city, an exhibition in the Museum Prinsenhof Delft, and you can buy special Vermeer-related products. The historical museum, churches, canals and townhouses will bring the past to life and literally takes visitors back to the Delft where Johannes Vermeer lived and worked. Delft Marketing will launch a visitor promotion campaign, Discover Vermeer’s Delft; experience the city of the Dutch master to show visitors the Delft in which Vermeer lived; a worldwide unique experience. The programme runs parallel to the Vermeer’s Delft exhibition in Museum Prinsenhof Delft and the large Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

From 10th February to 4th June 2023, Museum Prinsenhof Delft will host an ambitious exhibition titled Vermeer’s Delft. This exhibition follows the same vein as the campaign, focusing on the life of Johannes Vermeer, his world, and his connection to the city. A portrait of life in the seventeenth century comes to life with masterpieces from Delft painters, illustrations, books and other memorabilia.

Johannes Vermeer spent his entire life (1632-1675) living and working in Delft. Twelve locations in the Delft historical town centre which played an essential role in Vermeer’s life have been selected for this programme. From his place of birth to the locations where he drew inspiration for his famous paintings. Many of these spots have remained unchanged since Vermeer’s day. Walk past the same places in Delft where Vermeer used to walk himself. In addition to these twelve locations, there are various Vermeer-related activities where you can discover more about this famous painter.

There is much to see and do during the Vermeer programme in Delft. A combo ticket is ideal for people wishing to visit multiple activities. Participating organisations include the Museum Prinsenhof Delft, Vermeer Centrum Delft, Royal Delft Museum, Rondvaart Delft, and the Oude and Nieuwe Kerk in Delft.
